How can you make your circular economy model more inclusive?

1 Identify your stakeholders

The first step to make your circular economy model more inclusive is to identify who are your stakeholders, or the people who are affected by or can influence your activities. These may include your customers, suppliers, employees, investors, regulators, communities, and civil society organizations. You should map out their interests, expectations, and challenges, as well as their level of influence and engagement. You should also consider how your circular economy model impacts their social, environmental, and economic well-being.

2 Assess your impacts

The second step is to assess how your circular economy model affects your stakeholders, both positively and negatively. You should use a holistic and systemic approach that considers the direct and indirect impacts of your material flows, product design, business model, value chain, and governance. You should also identify any trade-offs, risks, or unintended consequences that may arise from your circular economy model. For example, does your circular economy model reduce waste and emissions, but increase inequality or exploitation? Does it create new opportunities for employment and innovation, but also new challenges for regulation and education?
