In my experience you have to plan for what metrics you think may be useful in the future to be properly able to measure performance and to be able to see where future areas of opportunity may be. Without good structural data capture you may find that when it comes to be able to continue to grow and analyze that without a good data map, and data understanding you may fall short.

The sustainability of any process or action will always resolve down to the actual or perceived benefit to effort ratio by those tasked to carry them out. Scalability of a process or action is dependant on how fundamental or universal the outcomes are. Project upscaling with too fine of a scope tends to get bogged down with exceptions and assumptions that ultimately diminishes its overall sustainability.
