I'm sharing a list of things the business should consider when implementing virtualization. 1. Security - Always a priority. 2. Cost - It is possible to save, but those savings are only sometimes easy to see. Look for cost savings from less overhead management and fewer endpoints to update. 3. Mobility - Fully functioning applications and access to data from any place on the planet. Many implementations fall short and this will hurt user adoption. Endpoint Management - Most people reading this will already understand the nightmare that endpoint management can become. With virtualization, you can control one image containing all the associated virtual desktops. This can be a real value driver for over head.

Containerised micro service architectures represent the state of the art in server-side application development for good reason. Their benefits in scalability, robustness, ease of administration and deployment no longer need to be proven. And one could be tempted to retrofit said architectures on legacy, non cloud-native applications, by taking pieces into containers for instance. This can often be a "make or break" decision. When considering such opportunities, the cost/return must be thoroughly analyzed, as a complete rewrite can offer, sometimes, the best return in the medium to long term.

My experience of more than 13 years using virtualized environments is that it gives us a great benefit of immediate growth, different storage systems can be attached to it.
