Remote testing is great for accessibility. Participants can take join the study from wherever they are, regardless of health or travel concerns. It also lets you get insights into their life - such as seeing their background, and seeing them in their daily environment. If you want to take it a step further, you can even test on mobile and have participants turn on their front facing camera so you see what they see (not applicable for all types of research). One last thing: if you do unmoderated testing, it allows participants to take the study at any time or day. So you can recruit faster by not trying to align schedules. Plus if you want to test people at a certain time (ei while waiting for a bus, or right after work) you can do that
