Unfortunately exchanging 3d files between different software still pretty much sucks in 2024 ;-) Ok, if you're working in your native software, saving and opening is no prob. If it's just a 3d model, fbx and obj can do the job. BUT, if there's a render ready object or scene with shaders, lighting etc. (data which is probably coming from your render engine), most exchange formats can NOT contain that data. Therefore it's still a challenge to transfer a render ready scene between different software like maya, max cinema or blender. USD on the horizon looks promising to finally bridge that gap.
