The technology embedded in the LWD or MWD needs to be in its optimum performance level to deliver the required information in real time to avoid waste of manhour and to speed up delivery rate. Also the nature of the subsurface formation is a key factor that determines the functionality of the sensor, hence this needs to be considered critically.

Once you have selected the most suitable logging method for your well, you need to optimize your logging program, which is the set of parameters and procedures that define how you will acquire, process, and interpret the logging data. To optimize your logging program, you need to consider several factors, such as the objectives and scope of the project, the available budget and resources, the technical specifications and capabilities of the logging tools, the geological and reservoir characteristics of the well, and the potential challenges and uncertainties that may arise during logging.

Always prepare a secondary logging objectives together with the primary. If permitted (subject to a,b,c), one should consider to run additional runs to fullfill the objectives. Focus on the value added to justify. Lock in potential (bbl/d), additional reserves, are always the best rational.

Deepwater drilling has many challenges, such as narrow pore pressure requiring multiple casing runs, wellbore instability, kicks and lost circulation are common. Deepwater results in high pressures and temperatures (HPHT) that limit the options for measurements and mud-pulse telemetry. The rigs required in this difficult environment are very expensive, and NPT greatly impacts on well/project economics. Thus new technology could help drill cost-efficiently in deep water. Real-time logging (LWD technologies) and measurement (MWD technologies) could expedite decision-making. Keeping a real-time eye on IWOB (Integrated Weight On Bit), the ROP (Rate of Penetration) could also increase by RSS (Rotary Steerable System) Advanced DD technologies.
