One of the best ways to learn from your peers and experts in the FM industry is to join professional associations that offer networking, education, and certification opportunities. For example, the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) are two of the most recognized and respected FM organizations in the world. They provide access to online and offline resources, events, courses, webinars, podcasts, publications, and more. You can also benefit from their credential programs, such as the Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or the Facility Management Professional (FMP), which demonstrate your competence and commitment to the FM profession.

I would categorize the ways as formal and informal. For the latest industry trends, I would follow a formal (or traditional) way and join global organizations like IFMA or BOMA. I would also recommend taking classes at a local college or university to learn about the new trends. That would be the theoretical part. But what I have personally done on a larger scale was to have informal meetings with my peers and successful Facility Managers whom I had met at some formal events of IFMA. I would invite them to visit my facilities and give me their feedback and suggestions on what solutions and applications they think would work. These informal meetings were usually very practical and helped me find direct solutions to complex problems.
