I would say the first step to improving motorcycle safety is improving data collection. There is no reliable data about motorcyclists, the riders and motorcycles owners are not known and neither is there a reliable statistic of how many they are. The lack of data makes planning and managing them almost impossible. Secondly with it becoming a global problem, why is no one capping entry? There is need to cap entry or make it safety training and a key prerequisite to owning a motorcycle

There, I rode more often and fearer traffic less then I do here in Texas. Texas doesn't allow the lane sharing/splitting but allows no-helmet which makes absolutely NO SENSE! Data shows lane-splitters involved in collisions suffer head injuries and fatalities far less than non-lane-splitters. Texas, Arkansas and Missouri have the highest fatality rates.

The measures required will vary enormously across countries. In some parts of the world motorcycle is the dominant mode of transport. In the UK by far the biggest risk for motorcyclists is lack of awareness and observation by other road users (primarily car and truck drivers). But in some other countries/cities interventions may need to focus on the motorcyclists themselves.
