Do not be afraid to give a chance to people raising the hand for an opportunity, evaluate risks and share responsibility on taking them for good, do not lose the hand to tether; supervise and train when needed, and evaluate improvement from time on time.

Its very important to bring awareness in team members about product. Key qualities I would look in potential leader is - 1. Being transparent 2. Being accountable 3. No blame games 4. Giving credit to team instead of just marketing himself/ herself 5. Ready to learn from Juniors or anyone

One of the foundational steps in this journey is defining a compelling vision. A clear vision not only outlines the destination but also ignites passion and commitment among team members. By articulating a vision with clarity and conviction, leaders in this field inspire their teams to push boundaries, collaborate effectively, and strive for excellence.

Once you set your vision, have a clear roadmap of it and do the SWOT (Strength, Weakness, Opportunities, Threats) analysis which would provide you what are the things you need to focus on and achieve and what are the opportunities available for you to utilize and move in towards your goal. - Also, try to have a mentor from your organization who is already up there in leadership position as he/she would guide you on the things you need to work on and the things you’re already good at.

Technical Mastery: Excel in design, analysis, testing, and troubleshooting for effective task execution. 2. An effective leader in this space should demonstrate the following traits: 1. He/she should have a strong technical expertise in the domain along with the in-depth knowledge of the horizon (cross-functional domains). 2. Communicate effectively and should be the go-to person. 3. Be able to mentor the young engineer and be in a role-model position within the organization. 4. Has a great soft skills which includes conflict managements and resource managements. 5. Great at multi-tasking (handling multiple tasks/projects at the same time). Work smoothly under tight timelines too.

Use auto-didactics but also rely on the older generation and learn from their experience what to do and what not to do! Seek out those skills not just locally but go further abroad to learn more from different fields of experience.

Great leaders have great skills. For leadership in automotive engineering,it is important to have both technical skills like design,analysis,testing and non technicall skills like communication,problem solving skills. Also it is very important as a leader in automotive engineering field to always develop your skills by researching more, attending conferences, trainings and so on. A lot of the skills a leader has will be passed down to other workers one way or the other, so you would want to make sure that people learn great technical and non technical skills from you as a leader in automotive engineering field.

In my experience in leading teams, the following aspects helped. - Strength based task allocation and coaching will make the team members motivated - Having open and friendly conversations to understand and improve the blind spots, if any. - Having a clear alignment with the expectations and vision of the project will make the team members empowered.

Team should be self driven and empowered with right tools, mindset and direction. Their contribution is reflection of achievements which in turn comes with ownership. Role of leader is just of a facilitator or servant leadership. The more a leader tries to control the team and micromanage the more it becomes complex and burdensome.

Creating a supportive environment where individuals feel valued and empowered to voice their ideas and concerns is crucial for developing leadership skills. Through empowerment, aspiring leaders can cultivate a team of driven individuals who are motivated to excel and innovate in the automotive engineering field.

A great leader is nothing without a great supporting cast! To showcase your leadership potential, empowering your team mates is a must: 1. Resourceful Leadership: Provide resources, support, and autonomy, acknowledging that a leader leverages team strengths. 2. One thing I have learnt in few times I have led other colleagues in automotive engineering field is empowering everyone and making them feel confident in their capabilities brings productivity and increased work efficiency from the team in general. Team members need to have that sense of identification with the team. Their mindset must be trained such that they know their contribution is highly needed for the team to accomplish it tasks. We can achieve this as leaders by welcoming new ideas of solving a particular problem from anybody in the team.

Through innovation, they can identify opportunities for optimization and growth, showcasing their leadership potential by spearheading initiatives that enhance efficiency, quality, and overall performance. Additionally, aspiring leaders should actively seek feedback, embrace new technologies and methodologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Always look to improve the ways in which you work. Work smarter not harder is the saying and it has truth in this saying. Also help others by showing them the easier and quicker way to do things. Innovation can be anything from improving how something works to making your own tools to make a job quicker and easier.

Automotive Engineering is an innovative field,therefore as leaders we have to be innovative. We can achieve this by; 1. Getting feedbacks from other colleagues, and customers. This will help to tackle problems in order of priority. 2.Trying out new ideas can bring about the total transformation we need on a project or on the work operation. If we don't try ,we can't know ,and if we don't know ,we can't act, and if we don't act, we can't win. 3. Spending time on research will also help our imagination to innovative ideas which can eventually transit into reality.

It is very important to keep communicating , share ideas and vision. As a leader one should be open to feedback and learn and equally important is to keep giving feedback to the team.

Most managers who have had schooling for this do not know how to communicate with your everyday automotive engineers. They come up with formulas, charts, they have meeting after meeting, spout out visions but never come up with anything useful to the working tradesman usually only making the lives of those workers more difficult and slowing their efforts as a result! Be real and be a real leader if you are going to manage others, rely on the knowledge of your workers and support them don't come up with fantastic plans based on zero experience in the trade!

Communication is key in any sector and I think it is even more important in an innovative field like automotive engineering. As leaders the way we communicate either verbally or with our gesture influence the teams and work output. We must take our emotional intelligence serious. And most importantly always welcome feedback, for this is one of the truest way of knowing if we are passing a message across or not.

Great leaders are always learning. Out of everything, self reflection is vital to grow and improve! Here is how: 1. Self-Awareness: Leaders assess strengths, weaknesses, actions, and values, fostering a deep understanding of themselves. 2. Feedback Integration: Embrace constructive feedback, learning from both successes and failures to drive personal and professional development. 3. Goal Setting and Celebration: Set realistic, challenging goals, monitoring progress and celebrating achievements. One thing that has worked well for me and incorporates a lot of the previously described points is; set a mission statement. Your mission statement should include what you stand for, how you accomplish it, and your overall drive.

I have seen many leaders unable to share knowledge due to many fears.
