Once they learn and achieve the minimum necessary to get the job done, you can always support them in their learning journey. But make sure not to send them down a learning rabbit hole that hampers your team productivity.

For most tech positions, expertise in the fine points of code (especially CSS) will be marginal--soon. But, while computers can now write decent code, you still won't get quality output without quality input. That's up to us (for now). The technologist who can orchestrate these tools to generate solutions will win. You must be EXCELLENT at abstractly articulating problems and solutions to do that. I see diagramming as the core practice here.
