The instructional coaches at my previous district typically employed the very instructional strategies they were showing while they taught us the strategies. For example, if they were teaching a reading strategy, they would give us a reading selection about teaching where we could practice the strategy. Having that hands-on experience before even leaving the coaching session was helpful to me.

As a teacher, I loved coming out of a PD session or coaching session with ready-to-use materials. I was much more likely to use the new instructional strategy if I had a clear vision of what the resources and/or implementation looked like.
