Once an explanation has been provided, it is your responsibility to decide how you choose to move forward. You can move forward - ego aside - based on their perspective or calmly state that you do not agree. Take a step back to ensure you are being logical and not emotional in your decision to refute your colleague's opinion. If no room to compromise exists, you can go as far as to ask for an objective opinion. However, everyone must agree that the group will move forward with any decisions or commentary received as a result of the objective opinion.

As you listen, pay attention to their needs and the feelings behind their words as opposed to just the words coming out of their mouth. Do not interrupt. Interrupting another person is a nonverbal indicator that what you have to say is more important than what they are saying and may further damage a relationship if this happens during the conflict. Once they finish speaking, repeat what you heard with the emotion and feelings you heard with it. Ask if your understanding is correct. [Allow them to answer.] Continue to listen to their needs as they speak, and you will be better able to address their request and be a better teammate.

I think the main point here is to showcase the big picture. Sometimes people working in a team cannot see the impact they are having because they are so used to doing mundane work. Regular check ins, and client feedback being shared with the wider team can boost team morale. We need to also have one on one meetings to highlight contributions made my individuals.
