Make sure to be a partner - a partner tells you when you are doing something wrong, only with the best intend. Is the project scope difficult because there is no other way, or is it something else? Another element is the concept of ''update me, do not involve me''. Way too often there is no in-between communication projects and it leaves room for assumptions or frustrations. If parts of a project or tasks take a bit longer or there are changes, update on the process but do not involve. If you leave people in the dark or assuming what's happening on the other side, it's never ending well.

Educate the client about the limitations and constraints of the project, including potential risks and uncertainties. By setting realistic expectations from the outset, you help the client understand what can be achieved within the defined scope and constraints. From my opinion, If the changes are not so big and can be implemented without much effort. You should do it. But also make sure that you aware the client that the work was not in original scope and you have done it as a good gesture. However if the changes required some amount of effort that you cannot afford. You should be very open with pricing and the expanded deadline

Deliver on time: There is a saying if work done on time, the work is not done and in todays world time is money. With real expectations, its important that work is delivered on time.
