Confirm your language skills or use an interpreter. Here’re 3 considerations: 1. Enunciate + speak plainly + pace yourself. What NOT to do: speak demonstrably slow or in elevated volume - if they don't understand what you say, dramatic vocal device won't help. Because you must be able to comprehend the questions before addressing them, assess ahead of time your speaking & listening skills in the audience's language. 2. If using an interpreter, pause intentionally to let them translate. The intervals make the interpreting feel integrated & build anticipation in the audience. 3. Show your diversity mindset! In a multicultural country like the US, a less spoken language doesn’t make it foreign - it's simply not English. Communicate to connect!

I live in Québec so I am used to this.Translate the speaking notes and have the translated version on hand. This will help with familiarizing yourself with the terminology. Practice the presentation in your native language and the second language. Anticipate possible questions and translate them ahead of time. This will help you further familiarize yourself with the terminology, preparing for any other questions that may be raised. Depending on the length of the presentation, you may want to insert a "Questions?" slide before moving on to a new concept.This will prevent you from feeling overwhelmed from having to answer many questions at the end. Speak slowly and enunciate well throughout the presentation to facilitate understanding.
