Above every scene, the heading references its main elements for quick identification and visualization. Slug line is the familiar term for the scene heading. It tells the reader (and filmmakers) practical information about where and when the scene takes place and how it needs to be filmed. The scene heading has a very standard format. Sometimes you may need to variate or add elements. The most important thing is to keep it consistent throughout the script and always have a heading where there’s a change of location. 2 Be specific and concise

The location of the scene should be as specific and concise as possible, without being too vague or too detailed. For example, instead of writing INT. HOUSE, write INT. KITCHEN or INT. BEDROOM, depending on where the action takes place. This helps the reader visualize the scene and the production team scout the locations.
