It’s always useful to understand the value chain of your data and map out data flow journeys that include stakeholders including data platforms. This generally gives one a starting point to understand and further map data security and governance elements pertaining to data vendors such as: Data governance: does the vendor provide operationalized features around DG or at least a framework that I can use/compliment with existing enterprise DG framework? Data access: Does the vendor offer the right controls to restrict/monitor/manage access to data and do they complement the existing controls in place? Data encryption at rest or in flight: does the vendor allow for data at rest and in flight in accordance with industry compliance?
