To me the most rewarding aspect of my job is figuring out an issue that no one else can - It happens, sometimes I get calls from other facilities and I wind up helping them too . This to me is the most satisfying, especially when I'm working with "experts"... I'm not the type of Admin who needs accolades, I just do what I do because I love it.

Solving a problem can certainly be its own reward; however, over time in a career you'll often find yourself solving variations of problems you've tackled before. The truly rewarding challenges - as opposed to being frustrating that they occurred in the first place - can diminish over time if you solely focus on the technical aspect. Nevertheless, if you are service-oriented, competent, and capable in your work, and approach it with an optimistic and affirmative mindset, the relationships you build and the appreciation you receive from others for your service can sustain you even through the toughest challenges.

Take a holistic approach: remember that cybersecurity is more than just hardware and software, policies and procedures. It is always, in the end, about people, who are both our first and last line of defense, as well as our customer. We serve to keep people secure (and thus, implicitly, their systems and data) while enabling them to utilize the resources they need. In addition to all the engineering, architecture, tools, etc., we heave to learn, we must also learn to understand and account for people - both those whom we protect and serve, and those we defend against.
