How can you facilitate a group presentation without dominating the conversation?

A plan ahead is always important. Not only will the listener be aware of the outcome but also help the presenter to meet the desired outcome.

I think its important to divide the presentation parts according to the comfort and knowledge of each participating member. And it always help to rehearse in advance to know the areas where you need to provide support, pause so you do not overpower the other speakers.

In my experience, having role clarity and the expectation contribution in a group presentation context is very important for both the presenting team as well as the audience. In one of the conversations, the client posted a very simple question, who is the one person who is accountable for the engagement performance. I am glad we had already identified that person as a part of the presentation preparation.

The great way for engaging is to have open ended questions. This will help more and more responses from the listener. The only drawback is that these questions can be dragged for longer time as most of the time they don't come on one page

One thing that I have found helpful is to set expectations of how the presentation would flow. We are usually in situations where we deliberately create a point of divergence to get as many diverse ideas and points of view to the table as possible. Open-ended questions serve as a good cue for those divergent questions like How might we think about situation x ...? What if we were to drop the preliminary thesis and look for alternate options...?
