The maintenance schedule , management of spares , downtime etc can be handled by a application APP and make the system work easily without human interface . In todays world this is one important step to ensure no unnecessary downtime and proper upkeep of the machineries .

Machine cleanliness is very important we should not be lackadaisical about our machine hygiene. For example most gearbox lubrication nipple cover are usually no where to be found, which cause the accumulation of debris and dirt in most of our gearboxes.

Some time we even manage our manpower they missed the same due to 22 hours running of machine where I recommend CLS system which gives not only proper greasing where as saved another manpower to look after daily rather than timing and other major checklist of the system, where as different different technology adoption also needs to prevent the clean and avoiding of moisture in the aggregate compartment.

It's very important to do WGM maintenance washing greasing with check list to avoid sudden failure in chassis and other aggregate compartment with cleaning only one can easily point out with pre planned seeing the root cause analysis of the above.

In most factories nowadays, inspection is also supported by real-time monitoring. This is done by installing sensors in critical equipment. For example, in rotating equipment, installing temperature sensor, vibration sensor, and tachometer will help to monitor the machine parameters and condition. Whenever the sensor detects any unusual working conditions (e.g., high vibration due to misalignment), the system can automatically alert engineers to immediately check and perform necessary action before the actual breakdown happen. Early detection to any abnormalities, quick action, and exhaustive preventive maintenance plan will not only extend the lifespan of our machines, but also significantly reduce the machine downtime.

Routine checklist keeps you on you alert and help you to tackle abnormalities before machine breakdown. Engineers should be very intentional with their checklist and not assume a machine or an equipment is working fine.

This is most underrated aspect to avoid machine breakdown and/or malfunction. Daily checklist will help monitor health of any machines. Checklist should include Oil level, coolant level, greasing, leaks, etc. This should also include regular practice of checking measuring equipment like, calipers, micrometers etc with a standard gauge block. This can mitigate errors during machining.

I have mentioned the same thing in routine inspection checklist. All the equipment that being used to measure the final machined product should be calibrated regularly i.e. everyday starting of each shift. This will have high impact on running cost as well. If it is not calibrated properly your final product will fall above or below the specified tolerance. You should calibrate your machines accurately and periodically, using the appropriate standards and procedures, and record and verify the results.

One thing that i have found helpful is prompt reporting of fault by the operational team to the maintenace team couple with prompt repair or adjustment action by the maintenance team. This practice would go a long way in reducing downtime and ensure everyday availability of the machines.

My experience on the design side of equipment has been two fold. I've first found that it doesn't pay to skimp. Finite element analysis, engineering design fundamentals, manufacturing recommendations, and various codes all show you the minimum in a perfect world. My experience, usually in hindsight, has been to use the next size bigger than you think you need and you will get the performance and longevity you want. Secondly, I've reinforced the age old adage that still rings true today: Keep It Simple Stupid (pardon the crudeness). The more "bells and whistles" there are, the more there is to go wrong.

Regardless of the machinery type, old or new, maintaining your machinery is a consistent process that involve two factors time and money. First of all, the first brick of maintaining any equipment is equipment itself, the materials used to make it, allowances, and safety factors. The second phase begins simultaneously with the installation of the machinery which make up to 30% of the equation which also include testing and calibrating. The second phase is pertaining to the continuous monitoring of during the operation, in addition to the human factor that charged with the operating process, from my experience I can confidently tell you that the machinery life may differ from labor to labor. The last thing is the inspection and maintenance.

Few more actions like Avoid overloading of machine,Keeping machine safety systems working,keeping ready and effective alternate power availability for particular machines that sustains major damage if stopped with loads for a longer period suddenly, Ensuring machines free of foreign materials if specified

One aspect of my industry that I was not aware of was the importance of peening for parts that undergo regular cyclic loading and are prone to failure due to crack propagation (think springs and gears). Shot peening is accomplished by accelerating a particle of media, such as steel shot or ceramic bead, to a high enough velocity that it can impact and dent the outer surface of a metal component. This is done across a specific area or the entire part and leaves a residual compressive stress on the surface that will counteract internal cracks expanding to the surface, increasing the life of a part 3-10 times longer.
