I do not know that having clear goals before you start a development program is always best. Since we often do not know what we do not know, approaching a program with a simple "I want to learn something I did not know before" is as deep as you need to go. Let the learning happen, make observations, glean good advice, and watch for "I never want to do that" moments can open many new vistas.

According to my experience, online leadership development depends on the priorities and interest of a person who wants to improve their leadership skills and enhancing knowledge. Choosing an appropriate program is the first step. Before starting the course there should be a clear idea about the contents and the learning outcomes after completing it. It is not only about completing a course and getting a certificate, but also about the implementation of the knowledge acquired through the course practically in the respective area is important. if the online program can make an impact, then we can say that it is effective and appropriate.

With online leadership, the written word is often our only means of communication. As such, being mindful of word choice and tone is critical to conveying the right message. Having a reliable spell/grammar checking program is vital to success. One of my worst moments came when I voiced that a student had "an astute observation." My voice to text wrote "a stupid observation" and I did not catch it. I was apologizing the rest of the course.

Be aware of your surroundings and think about what might be happening you are not aware of. These days it is not just a matter of personal safety, but of being a better leader. I used to get chapped at people who park too close to the line in parking lots until one day I saw a woman struggling with three small children. She was not trying to be inconsiderate, but needed the space to work with kids and car seats. The point is that we never know what another person is going through and we should give them the benefit of the doubt unless they prove otherwise.
