I agree, but it’s not always easy to narrow down what type of designer you are or what your main focus is. What I needed to do was look at transferable skills from a previous career and see how that translated over to Product Design with my UX skills. Narrowing down your niche can help define you as a designer and the best advice I have to make it easier is to look at what you enjoy doing as a designer and what you enjoy outside of design. Can those be combined. For me I love to find out the why or how to brands and products, but I also have management skills so I figured out product designer was more of a fit than UX Designer so I could focus on the solution and manage projects.
