How can you ensure your vision is reflected in a video project?

When defining my vision for a video I make sure that what I am creating isn’t creative purely for the sake of creativity. I want to make sure that whatever I am envisioning delivers on the brand promise for the company or client. There are a couple things I do. I seek out images for the vibe I’m after in order to create a mood board. Sometimes I will evolve the images from the mood board into a storyboard with a rough story line in order to get buy in from collaborators and stakeholders. I also research examples that other brands have created, aka references, to see how they did it and if it resonates not only with me but also viewers, to help guide my creative process.
