How can you ensure that your video editing process is scalable for future growth?

As a video editor, it's crucial to understand your client's vision before starting a project. For instance, I recently worked with a finance influencer on Instagram with 300k followers. She was unsure about her style, so we talked about her vision, chose brand colors and fonts, and brainstormed ideas. We also discussed the content calendar and how often she wanted to post. Once we had all these details, editing became much easier. It's important to communicate clearly from the beginning, understand their vision and expectations, stay updated with trends, and blend what they like with what the market wants in each video edit.

Besides the strategies listed in the article, we also implement a few other strategies for a scalable video editing process that can handle increased workloads effectively. We use collaborative editing platforms that allow multiple editors to work on the same project simultaneously. This can enhance productivity and facilitate faster project turnaround times. We also regularly monitor the performance of our video editing processes. At the end of the day, you can spend your entire life planning. Or you can ACTUALLY do the work. So, get started, first. Once you've worked with a few clients, some underlying workflows will emerge, so document them using something like scribe.how. But honestly? Most of this is going to be tailored to each client, so don't sweat it too much. But DO make sure you're using a tool like teamwork.com if you've got multiple team members, or a high workload

This is the biggest challenge we've had, clients name their files whatever they want - usually the default file name from their camera - which makes it impossible to find what's needed. We have consistent folder naming schemes across clients to ensure that whatever type of file we're looking for can be found not only through navigating through folders but by searching keywords in file names.

In my experience, keeping track of edits, versions, and exports is THE MOST important thing when trying to repurpose or scale future video content. Making sure you have a naming and file system that you and your team collectively understand will save *a lot* of time and confusion in the future.

Two routes here: Invest in a complex and probably overly expensive content library (Microsoft has one in sharepoint even), or just create a templated folder structure that you can follow. Every client I have, has a specific folder template structure that gets copied and pasted in. Sensible naming conventions for outputs are necessary. Number your folders and subfolders so they're in the same order.... Just BE ORGANISED!

Create a snagging list document, probably on google sheets or microsoft excel. Make sure you onboard the client on how to use it. When they don't, point out they're to blame. Jokes. Use a tool like Descript where you can share comments with non-users !!!
