In order to dig into your team's inventory of capacities, it would much better to engage the team members in the process of establishing the project's vision, translating it into a clear objective-driven mission, instead of only communicating the vision through a top-bottom approach. Having your team contributing to refining the vision would enable them own the process and have better agency over the long-term strategy.

Maintain open and effective communication to explain the reasons and benefits of the transition. Involve team members in planning and decision-making, valuing their input. Set clear and achievable goals aligned with individual and team objectives. Provide adequate training and support to help the team adapt to the changes. This is one of the most exciting steps. If you do a lousy job at it, you'll feel it immediately; in contrast, doing a good job makes everyone's life easier and helps things move along faster. As they say, "no one likes change," but that's not always the case, in my opinion. Some people enjoy change, but the majority has hang-ups along the way. At this stage, allowing yourself time to figure out the best way to communicate changes can be helpful. Depending on the type of transition, a simple email may do. However, more complex transitions would require in-person meetings (or video call meetings), emails, and other documentation.

In my experience I always create space for co-creation and ideation. Much of the time resistance surfaces its because decisions are not shared or understood. By generating space for collaboration and co-creation team members become an integrated element in the overall change design.

The importance of this stage of the process should never be underestimated. Employee involvement is important as they are closer to the task and they could highlight challenges and contribute to solutions.

To quote Benjamin Franklin - "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn". Engagement breeds better ideas and learning, whether through a good or bad experience, should always be welcomed. We should also realize psychological safety plays a huge part here where an environment where everybody can share their ideas without fear of being judged.

Involving the team you work with every day is important in so many ways. Not just transition. It builds ownership, inclusiveness, develops cross functional skills and allows the different levels of experience and expertise to create a safe learning space

Open door policy. Be a manager that has an open and honest employee facing personality. As long as people feel you are open, available and willing to talk - change will be much less scary.

This can be a really hard one,especially when you work in an organisation that is under resourced and everyone is stretched. Sometimes resistance may be warranted, due to the fact not all risk was fully assessed. Maybe a detail was overlooked? Maybe resources such as labor and scheduling issues weren’t fully addressed, regardless of the hypothetical, it’s not a bad idea to listen and see if further change or compromise is warrented? This may not be the case (the employee just doesn’t like change), however, by using their argument from the employee’s reticent to change in policy or process, you can use those arguments for further justification and buy in.

For change to be successful, it is very important to listen to the team's concerns and reasons for the resistance and collectively work through them.

Regardless of strategies put in place. Any change in an organisation, brings with it a roller coaster of emotions for both employees and leaders. Understanding and supporting individuals as they go through these phases is key. We must not forget, it is absolutely normal for people to feel anger, resentment, fear when change occurs. In transitions, yes there are people who have difficulty checking. There are a lot of reasons why, but it can identify those people who don’t want to go with that change, who need help to see the vision, but also those that don’t want change at all. At times it might be that the team member themselves identifies it’s not a workspace for them any more and hence, in transition, there may be staff departures and also a lot of experience may go with that person. When that happens it can be problematic but letting the person go avoids possible future disruption
