In my opinion one can leverage power of automation to perform following: 1) Repeatability : Multiple repetition of the scenario helps uncovering many issues such as memory leaks, unhandled exceptions, stake overflows etc 2) User Behaviour Driven Performance : Design your automation traffic model in such a way they simulate/emulate real life behaviour of users. 3) Load, Stress and Overload: Load system upto its limit, stress with additional limits and test it to a level where the user base exceeds but system is able handle such exceptions well.
