It matters 'big-time' because limiting the access to standards and recommended practices impedes small engineering firms and newly graduate engineers from getting up to speed and even keep up with potential customer requirements, slowing down if not hindering the quality of their offering and ultimately affecting the economy. What's the point of condensing lessons learnt across any given industry if these aren't made available to accelerate the improvement of professional production, isn't professional production intended to make society a better place for everyone?

I'm not on board with all this "inclusive" ideology floating around in Western thinking. I'm half white, half Filipino. I feel inclusive by simply being an American. I don't need to be reminded that America is the most inclusive country in the entire world. That's like calling a cow a cow. No, really? No, duh. When you contribute to society, through engineering, you are proactively thinking about the fellow man working after you. Why? Because bad engineering can hurt or literally kill people. By the very definition of engineering itself, all engineering is for the benefit of all mankind. Every human being on Earth will be included to make sure everything is safe. Skin color, race, or religion is already included by default.

This could be attained by documenting the implementation of standards across engineering outputs during daily Engineering operations. For instance, while specifying GD&T on 2D fabrication drawings, do consider creating a hidden layer of sketches where GD&T specifications are graphically tested for validation. Most modern CAD software provides multi-layer functionality that greatly helps with this task. Commenting tools are another resource that greatly helps to pinpoint sections of Standards and thus provide long-term documentation of engineering decisions while also acting as 'visual-kinesthetic' learning resources for future engineers learning from our documentation efforts.

By partnering with local libraries, universities and volunteering organizations, specially those with a philanthropic vocation, to provide them with access to standards and recommended practices on selected topics. It would be fantastic to see a world where this type of organizations are empowered with the experiential body of knowledge condensed in standards and recommended practices maintained by world renowned standardization organizations and leading research centres. If capitalization and money have taken technology developments to astonishing levels, I can only imagine just how much farther these boundaries would be taken if sharing, appreciation, correspondence and empathy would be empowered with peer-reviewed lessons learnt.
