Evaluating integration with existing systems and budgets is also critical upfront, before considering technical specifications like device compatibility. Attempting to customize mismatched LMS platforms post-purchase creates obstacles. With tradeoffs common in academic settings, taking a holistic approach from the start allows balancing priorities. Though technical factors do deserve attention, selecting technology that maximizes teaching, learning and institutional fit drives better adoption and ROI. This should be step one.

There is a distinctly different application of an LMS (or more recently learner experience platform LXP) in a higher education institution versus whas a company may use for employee training. The biggest difference here is scale and formal assessment functionality. While there are many LMS's , with many features and bells and whistles, an education institution needs to thinj about a system that runs most reliably across all kinds of faculties and user abilities. In this I think there is a hard lesson on keeping it simple and not expecting to make fancy and innovative websites out of a learning management system
