I have seen many cases where users have made assumptions based on the data structure and name of a data element only to find later it may not be exactly what they need. This is where an effective and easy to use Data Catalog can help by providing not only good descriptions of the data itself but things like its quality level, where it comes from and what happens to it along its path to the data structure they will access it from. Identifying and publishing authorized provisioning points for data can also help to remove an ambiguity around where to source data.
