Well, in my humble opinion, communicating brand strategy to employees does not depends only on company vision, objectives and goals it depends upon the type of organisation too. If its a branded house than certainly brand communication should be aligned and employee will be the best advocates and if its a house of brands than firstly segments should be clearly defined and particular segment should be aligned and take the pride for working for that particular brand. So forth so on…

People adopt more easily strategies or decisions they contribute to. There might be employees who were there at the early days of the company or who know how the company is perceived by consumers, customers and competition. These people can make valuable contributions in terms of insights for the brand strategy. These will help marketeers a lot to create the pillars of the brand. Also the employees will feel heard and valued, which will create a sustainable win win situation for both parties.

En mi opinión, los trabajadores son nuestros primeros embajadores. Trabajadores comprometidos e informados son un valor para la marca. Por eso, siempre deben ser los primeros en ser informados y este proceso debe ser medible. Se debe contar con KPI de interiorización/entendimiento de las estrategias. Además, es esencial que dentro de una empresa nos conozcamos, que entendamos el impacto del trabajo de otros, para así sentirse parte de algo común y abanderarse; la colaboración es lo que permite llevar los proyectos adelante. Y el compromiso también debe tener un KPI para medirlo. Por último, lo más importante: escuchar. Los comunicadores tenemos que estar abiertos a escuchar y recibir feedback de otras áreas.

Share with all the departments the brand guidelines to make sure that everyone understands the brand properly. One section that I have found to be very useful is to include the do's and the don'ts of the brand. and after sharing the document do a brand workshop for each department to showcase for each team how they are representing the brand and discuss how they can do it properly.

I believe everything has to start from inside then to be extended outside. In my previous job, we launched our brand's new positioning and values through a brand movie at first internally during a big company gathering. Then we did a big launch online and offline for our external customers. We also announced an internal competition in line with the brand's values and positioning which has helped us to create a hype around it. We received lots of participation and positive feedback from other departments. Our employees shared that they feel more attached to company. We created natural brand ambassadors. And we experienced that representation of the brand shouldn't be limited to only marketing department.

In my experience, internal communication and your employees play the most vital role in building and reinforcing your company brand story. The gap that exists is- that employees are not educated on how aligning themselves online and sharing their "organizational brand stories", can help them in their professional journey and building personal brands. It's imperative that employees are given an incentive and educated on how mutually beneficial this is for organisations and employees Otherwise, I have seen it become as an additional responsibility/ignored because employees simply do not see the merit in sharing their experiences especially online.

Brand employees, especially those who are customer-facing, really are excellent storytellers for a brand. Yet, only some realise it, especially with B2B brands. Compared to their illustrious B2C counterparts, B2B brands are often seen as cold and unapproachable. This is where human stories — the people behind the brand — can make a massive impact. Internal and external audiences love them, and delivered correctly, are a powerful lever to enhance reputation (proof points), reveal emotional brand dimensions and help build organisational pride.

One time in my previous company at work, we would get regular newsletters and emails and we would also get marketing toolkits for events. Now this would be enhanced by the same content being shared by people on the LinkedIn pages with spaces for creators to make edits or reshare. Engagement is a very good metric to start seeing how is your brand being received and engaged with and your employees are your very first line of people who engage with it not just limited to the leadership or the brand/comm/content/strat team who worked on it. If employee advocacy happens naturally and they want to endorse it then it means the brand is in the right track or else a RCA needs to be brought in for improvements.

Appoint geographic areas of responsibility to each employee and have them report about their progess once a month in a teammeeting. If something positive happens to the brand in Italy, Australia, Japan and Singapore etc... need to know instantly. It can be through social media posts in this individual country where an event/ a progress/ a success story happens that something like that gets communicated. As well old fashion individual phone calls to customers and agents sometimes can make miracles in a digitalized world.
