I love interacting with the audience as well as using the same walk on music every time I step on stage. It signals to the audience I am about to transition, introduce a speaker or sponsor. It also allows them to throw their hands up which are the lyrics to my favorite walk on music! I also include gamification and session recaps so audience members don't miss a thing.

I think of hosting a show like making music. There are going to be naturally more introspective moments that build to epic bass drops. I ask myself, how can I choreograph this day like a great DJ? What jokes and costumes would make this part of the song/this solo memorable? If you think like a performer instead of a mouthpiece you’ll have more fun on stage and so will the audience.

After a few particularly long and relatively unengaging presenters at a conference, the Emcee encouraged everyone to stand up and stretch, recognizing the need for a quick break after hours of sitting. Then, he engaged the audience by asking them to share anecdotes about inspiring leaders with their neighbor. The result? An immediate surge of renewed energy in the room! This worked with an audience of over 500+. I was really impressed and will try this the next time I Emcee.
