I agree to encourage all. Employees can receive incentives bit then this is creating expectations instead of doing thee right thing all the time. But encourage reporting of near misses or hazards to help.reduce safety incidents. SECTION8/14

Use the technology by implementing digital tools such as mobile apps or online forms for reporting hazards. Nowadays, almost everybody has a smartphone. This makes it convenient for the staff/employees to report any hazards quickly from anywhere in the workplace.

If the process isn’t clean, simple, and effective, employees are just less likely to use it. Most employees are under enough pressure with quality/productivity/delivery expectations and the EHS world already throws plenty at them. They just don’t want more paperwork or permits. A simple process for reporting an unsafe condition/unsafe act or near-miss with effective follow-through and PROVEN results can be sold as a valuable tool.

Create a culture of H&S by sharing company directives and local regulations. Set up an safety incident portal and create multiple user friendly trainings (either web-based or instructor-led) and flag those trainings as 'mandatory' to enforce importance of reporting incident. Assign a dedicated Health & Safety resource in the organisation whos job is to consistently update the team for any changes and emphasize the importance of safety and help the employees understand that their wellbeing and the wellbeing of their colleagues is #1 priority for the organisation.

Imagine um processo de comunica??o burocrático, feito somente em papel, em que se tenha que tomar várias assinaturas. Com certeza essa é uma forma de inibir a iniciativa e reduzir uma base de dados que poderia ser muito útil para a melhoria das condi??es de seguran?a.

N?o há nada mais desestimulante do que um relato ou uma sugest?o n?o levada a sério ou sem retorno. Se a sugest?o n?o é exequível, tudo bem, pelo menos é importante que seja dado o retorno. Se n?o há recursos para implementar no curto prazo, n?o há problema, desde que haja uma comunica??o transparente e objetiva falando dos motivos pela n?o implementa??o naquele momento mas que sim, quando houver os recursos disponíveis ela será levada em considera??o. Sempre deve ser dado o retorno.

I’m a big fan of a visual management system that displays unsafe conditions/near misses reported by employees and the status of the corrective action.

During formal or informal meetings and dialogue with direct reports, improvement needs or hazards reported are or should be acknowledge, documented in an action register, with responsibility assigned and due date stated. A daily follow-up through the action register is necessary, in formal or informal meetings with direct report may be necessary.

People will get used to safety hazards when they are not addressed after being reported. A simple system to report is needed; however, quick action has to be taken after any report is made. Even if it’s just explaining how to work around that hazard.

E n?o falo só a comiss?o de seguran?a, mas engaje todos os funcionários com comportamentos seguros e abordagens de seguran?a em processos dentro da empresa.

Envolver a equipe, é fundamental para a organiza??o ser assertiva. Valores n?o pode ser esquecidos e cada requisito completado deve ser compartilhado com a equipe e as boas práticas compartilhada.

Some of the most impactful moments in my career have been watching someone react to being publicly praised for working safely. So often we focus on reporting and opportunities, and try to think of ways to create incentives to do so. A successful safety culture is visible in a team who work safely when they think no one is watching. Do a round of shout outs at team meetings. Start a safety observation program and get the team to call each other out positively. I've seen first hand where this culture shift then leads to the team also stopping each other from working unsafely as opposed to looking the other way.

One thing I found helpful during my tenure is making People understand and encourage them to report whatever they hazardous is to let everyone understand that saftey is everyone's responsibility, this can encourage them report the hazard with a different mindset.

Hazard identification should be prompted by the Team Leader at the start of the meeting. In this way, the discussion helps the team understand the hazard and the preventive measures necessary to avoid it.
