One thing I have found effective, is on job trainings, webinars by cable, device manufacturers and industry players on upcoming technologies and trends in the industry. For fiber technicians, is not only joining the cable, sharing knowledge on basic telecommunications or transmission principles go along way in resolving optical network issues during fault or when doing optimization.
