I often train developers which state they already know the basics. In many cases this almost true, but the fine details are missing in between. That's why I usually go through all the basics with them again - in a speedrun; but we're talking about all the topics. That helps to asure we're all on the same base and also it's kind of a refresher for everyone.

The right curriculum can be tricky. It has proven to be useful having smaller chunks in larger topics that you can simply switch and replan. This also helps if you need to create an interactive on-demand version of your training content. Make sure to start building a foundation and then adding level by level. Make sure to always verify if what you are talking about does not rely on untold knowledge. Build a circular curriculum and come back to the first topics later in a recap to connect the dots.

Once you're done with the training people must IMMEDIATLY start to use the new knowledge. If you don't reinforce it bits and pieces fall apart within days. After two weeks most of them forgot almost 50% of what was told. Make sure you come up with a project idea that helps them to use every skill they've learned. If you're a developer, let them create a tiny blog system; if you're a designer, let them create a small magazine. That helps people to aim for a target and gives them a clear idea of what to do.
