Don't assume that your mentee has the same goals or needs as you did when you were in their position. Be open-minded and respectful of their aspirations and perspectives.

During my interaction across industries, some of the key elements I learned especially when dealing with people across different age groups and backgrounds:- - To be a good listener first before presenting my own perspective - Understanding the mindset of the person, as this helps me to frame my viewpoint accordingly - Patience with the top management as they are skeptical to deviate from their existing practices - Exemplifying my viewpoint to bring people on board as they are very much set in their own ways of working. So multiple examples and benchmarking needs to be done. - Show them the big picture as a result of adopting small but impactful changes, and demonstrate how it would impact their overall profitability as an organisation

4 Embrace your mentee's differences

Mentoring across generations can also expose you to different perspectives, values, and attitudes that may challenge your own assumptions and beliefs.
