I learnt that for example it is easier in the Western World to have a contrarian view with that of your superiors especially in a meeting than in many parts of Africa and Asia. without diversity understanding room for conflict increases. A professional from the west may then be wrongly viewed as arrogant and disrespectful while one from Africa may be wrongly judged as passive and hesitant depending on who is evaluating. Remember that passive, aggressive, assertive, are all subjective and a product of our individual culture, upbringing, motivations and expectations. Constructive conflict management must factor in diversity issues to avoid feuds and cabals in an executive team.
