File systems and databases are examples of how their development is necessary and how they clarify the underlying principles. It is crucial to follow the process from ideation, conceptual design, logical design, schema refinement, and security to actual data storage. Because all of this information combines together to make a single database, every little detail matters. The process would be the same for any database—Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc. Therefore, in my opinion, to?understand the essence of any database, one must be well-versed in the process itself.

The key to a DBMS interview is understanding the basics of different commands of structured query language work such as DDL, DML and DCL. Understanding how data is organized in rows, columns, tables and records is also critical. Go through different data types, entities and their relationships work. have a good grounding on how to reduce data redundancy through normalization.

You must know the basic differences among all available database types and you should be familiar with all the key concepts such as JOINS, GROUPBY, HAVING, INDEXING, Query Optimization, Normalization, etc. Moreover, you should understand the need for sharding and partitioning in terms of space and time complexity. Additionally, you can discuss the different scenarios you encountered during your job and the solutions you implemented.

Key database models (relational, hierarchical, network, object-oriented); DBMS functions like definition, manipulation, control and administration of data; data modeling methods like entity-relationship diagrams and dimensional modeling to represent data relationships; database query languages such as SQL; database design principles like normalization and indexing to optimize storage and access; ACID properties for reliable transactions; advantages and disadvantages of different database approaches. Demonstrating command of foundational theory and terminology shows readiness to manage real-world database systems and architecture. Don’t forget to mention how you support the application programmers by providing backups and any database recoveries you’ve done. Or how you optimize and organize databases to improve response time. And if you have done anything special like researching, applying, and testing a data propagator in support of syncing data source with other applications that need that data. There can be a fine line between DBAs and Programmers’ responsibilities and expertise. Like server upgrades, database upgrades, and software upgrades. Also how you support the database user community by keeping their data cyber safe (and backed up). Permission/access solutions should be mentioned too, if you have extra time on the interview.

Es hilft sehr, wenn für verschiedene Einsatzszenarien jeweils Beispiele benannt werden k?nnen: wann sind sog. NoSQL-Systeme sinnvoll, wann eher relationale Modelle? Welche Eigenschaften von Daten k?nnen hier zur einen oder anderen Technologie tendieren lassen? Was sind multidimensionale Modelle, wofür ben?tige ich sie, und wie kann ich sie auf relationalen DBMS abbilden (Star, Snowflake, hybrid…).
