How can you diffuse tension with difficult photography clients?

Ask relevant questions and provide detailed answers. Throughout the interaction, ensure the client knows you are attentive and comprehend their needs. If you find it challenging to establish a common understanding, there's nothing wrong with recommending a colleague to the client. This doesn't imply a desire to pass off a problem to someone else; rather, it signifies recognition that you may not be the best fit for the project. Another colleague might approach the situation differently and potentially handle it more effectively than you could.

I always talk to my clients first and get an unstanding of who they are. I need to get on really well with them, ... I never book on a blind email or text without at least an online chat first. This was i have the fallback of being able to say im sorry, that date is already booked.

99% of people and organizations you work with are going to be great. There are lots of jaded and bitter photographers out there but don't let their attitudes bring you down. Give yourself some grace too... there's no manual for this sort of thing and we're all out here trying to figure it out. Lastly, find and mentor and BE a mentor. You won't regret it.
