How can you develop a strong work ethic?

Perhaps the best way to develop strong work ethics is to tune into your "why" and refine it, keeping in mind that it's a lifelong process and can change over time. A good way to develop the "Why" is to start with each goal, and ask yourself: "Why is that important for me to achieve?" Don't edit what comes up as an answer. Once you have an answer, if you like, ask a couple of more "Why" questions to clarify it even further. Do this for each of the goals you have set. If you do this patiently, you will begin to see a common pattern among your answers to the 'Why' questions. Remember to take your time doing this process. Days, weeks, or even months are not unusual in finding the answers you seek.

Managing time is so important because you can’t get time back. It is crucial that you monitor those things that tend to waste your time. Social media and people can be time wasters. You must be discerning in both areas to ensure you are devoting time to what you need to get done. If it does not serve you, you must take steps to remove it from your life. Evaluate where you are spending your time and make adjustments. Shifting your time to areas that require your attention is key. Readjusting the time you devote to some people may be difficult but consider this….if you don’t adjust, you may never experience where you want to go because you allowed someone else to adjust and/or waste your time for you. How about that?

A powerful mindset is to look at the week as your scheduling block. Instead of setting the daily to-do list, set the overall goals to achieve for the week. Remember to leave enough empty blocks of time for doing things that energize you. Make a list of activities that energize you, even if one of those activities is doing nothing. When the day gets a little tedious, do those activities. Finally, know your natural predispositions and use them as strengths. You can start with personality assessments such as DISC and Myers-Briggs. If you are a creative type, the vast majority of time management literature will not work for you. In fact, it will drain you and demotivate you. Learn to manage your time in line with your natural proclivities.
