How can you develop a strong and compelling message for cold calling?

Use a script. There are so many tools you can use to communicate when you don’t have to think about the words you say. Tone, pace, pitch, etc… Whether you’ve been calling for 2 days or 2 years, using a script will help take the mental strain off of cold calling.

Experienced and motivational speakers know the value of having a theme. When they are preparing a presentation, the theme helps them to focus attention on a narrower field of information and to think more deeply about it. The result is that instead of superficially touching on many points, they develop their material in a way that is more beneficial to their audience. If you directly connect each of the main points to the theme and helps to develop it, the audience is also helped to remember those points and to appreciate their significance. Your theme is the subject on which you speak, so let it shows, if you do that, you will find that the quality of your talks will improve and your audience will appreciate it better.

When cold calling it becomes about the pitch, understand who you are calling on and why you decided to make this call. Is it the challenge or a desire to speak in an area that you see as an opportunity over simply another check.

It is highly important for you to find 'Common Grounds'. If your listener cannot see how, why and where they are involved in the whole discussion as soon as possible, they would tune out. So look for common ground, it may be likes, goals, interests you share in common. Then, take advantage of that

Reach the heart. The heart is the seat of motivation. This figurative 'heart' is where decisions are made or the action box. The 'heart' represents what a person is inside—how he feels, all that he thinks about, why he thinks about it, and how those thoughts influence his actions. So that your call or presentation can penetrate to such depths, focus on these objectives: (1)?Discern what has already influenced your listener’s heart. (2)?Give practical ways in which he/she stands to benefit from your presentation. (3) The last but not the least, you may have to move them to action. Some people need someone to tell them what to do. Do it!

For an effective presentation, you need an effective introduction. Your introduction is a crucial part. If you really arouse the interest of your audience, they will be more inclined to listen intently to what follows. If you failed to capture their attention, the audience will not walk out on you, but individuals may start thinking about other things. When preparing your introduction, have in mind the following objectives: (1)?getting the attention of your audience, (2)?clearly identifying your subject, and (3)?showing why the subject is important to your audience. In some instances, these three objectives may be attained almost simultaneously. At times, however, they may be given attention separately.
