You would be ‘mad’ to try and write a custom operating system in 99.99% of organisations / use cases If committing development resources is necessary - it makes sense to try and minimise dependencies on specific infrastructure, 3rd party services and products - but not to the extreme that you find yourself coding a new OS! Ideally the application / code written should be platform and OS agnostic - minimising its dependencies on OS services, infrastructure availability and latency - and codes as micro services so the application can be rapidly iterated, scalable, portable and operated flexibly.

O sistema operacional trabalha entre a camada do software e hardware, um sistema operacional deve focar no hardware e criar um middleware para que o software que seja escrito seja de fácil escrita e manuten??o abstraindo os detalhes do hardware. é necessário que o sistema operacional além de entender em qual processador será executado entenda também os chips auxiliares para facilitar a comunica??o, por exemplo ele precisa saber como lidar com a memória aproveitando o máximo do barramento, precisa comunicar com os periféricos de entrada, saída, entrada e saída a forma em que o periférico trabalha (se em bloco ou em caracteres). Um aplicativo personalizado ele precisa de utilizar uma linguagem que converse muito bem com o sistema operacional.
