In the world of information security, one of the first principles is “least privilege” which means only give permissions to individuals that are absolutely necessary to do a given job based on their defined roles & responsibilities. From an IAM perspective, for user management always think provisioning temporal roles versus fixed, permanent access to cloud-based or IT resources. Similarly, from a network security viewpoint start with an “implicit deny” policy and then allow traffic based on business need using for example, five tuple attributes that uses combination of source/destination Port, IP and transport protocols.
