For example, analyzing KPIs by user segments may reveal distinct search patterns among different user groups, enabling tailored search experiences for each segment.

El sistema de búsqueda de un producto digital es un factor clave que ayuda a la consecución de objetivos importantes tanto para negocio como para los usuarios. Tener una buena implementación del sistema de búsqueda, conseguirá que los usuarios deban realizar un menor esfuerzo cognitivo para realizar consultas dentro del sitio. Para que los usuarios puedan realizar una buena consulta de búsqueda, necesitan saber bastante bien lo que quieren consultar o lo que están buscando. Necesitan localizar y conocer el componente del buscador e introducir las palabras clave correctas. Para llegar a un resultado significativo, el usuario deberá de pensar en los atributos que son relevantes para conseguir su objetivo e incluirlos en la búsqueda.

A good search function assist discoverability and can shortcut to certain information users interested in. If this function is not a primary like on a designated search site, business should understand and define how such search augments navigation and users flow in their digital journey, which impacts all the above – conversions, engagement, retention, and satisfaction. To better define search goals it could help to brake search-function into three categories – transactional (find an action like buy tickets, schedule an appointment), navigational (navigate to a certain area of interest like library, shop, gallery), informational (find certain information of interest).

Users come to the search section for 2 primary reasons. 1. They know what they need. 2. They have no idea what they are searching for. Does that mean that these need to be solved separately? Nope. User segment 2, eventually enters user segment 1. But interestingly both these segments come with a certain Job to be Done (JTBD) defined. For the segment that knows what they need, the problem is to help users dive more in-depth to ensure repeated engagement towards search. And for the segment who have no idea, if search is a core function of your product, first understand their intent. This can be done during initial onboarding or quick surveys. Once the intent has been established, take them through the journey you have planned for.

Los usuarios suelen reconocer que un icono de lupa indica una herramienta con funcionalidad para la búsqueda, incluso cuando no existe etiquetado. La mayoría de los sitios están haciendo un gran trabajo en este punto. Suelen ubicar uniformemente junto a la navegación global el campo del buscador.Los usuarios buscan un campo ancho y vacío o con un icono de lupa para realizar y escribir sus consultas. Un botón con el texto buscar es bastante efectivo, pero los usuarios ya entienden que el icono de la lupa, cuando se le da el estilo adecuado hace la función de botón y ya no es tan necesario la etiqueta “Buscar”. Las sugerencias o autosugerencias son parte fundamental de un buscador. Las sugerencias enriquecidas están ganando peso.

Son un tipo de sugerencias que incluyen foto del producto, precio, descuento, etc. Cuando existen muchas categorías o familias de producto, este tipo de sugerencias enriquecidas pueden mostrar dichas categorías a los usuarios para ayudarles a localizar su consulta y facilitarles la construcción de su mapa mental. Beneficios de que el usuario seleccione sugerencias de búsqueda: - Selecciona un término apropiado que le mostrará resultados relacionados en vez de malos resultados o resultado 0. - Disminuye el coste de interacción ya que no necesita escribir la consulta completa. - Evita errores tipográficos. - Menos esfuerzo mental.
