Libraries typically share a common goal, lending books to readers, esp those that might not be accessible easily. This is true for libraries that cater to a particular community or organisation. With digital libraries, I believe these goals don't change drastically. However, what might become vital is to have a concrete data management system coz unlike physical books, managing ebooks need secure interaction.

This is one of the most important, and often overlooked, aspects of presenting a library of digital content to users. Users desire and expect to find what they are looking for with ease, which means accounting for every way a user may be searching for things: from the most obvious and most unlikely ways! When working digitally, you will also be engaging with a variety of different languages and cultures as your content is access globally. This means accounting for variations in language and culture (e.g. pavement vs sidewalk as tags) in addition to thorough tagging and indexing behind an intuitive UX. Finally, a little user testing goes a long way, and keep an eye on performance metrics to reinforce whats working and change what's not.

Beyond considering all these aspects, have in mind ways in which you build a digitial library that engage the users in such a way and add so much value to them that they feel compelled to contribute, as well.So, when considering a digitial library, use this checklist to analyze if you are catering for these elements: - Is there an automated way users can contribute and collaborate? - Is there any kind of moderation to check if the resources are adequate, within copyright best practices? Is this moderation made by specialists or community-driven? - Is there any recognition system in place with clear streaks that prompts users to contribute? - Are the resources tagged & categorized within a taxonomy that promotes findability by new users?
