To build the immersive AR/VR experience the interaction is a key element. While designing the experience affordance and gaze are the two factors we need to keep in our mind. Users should not feel tired after using the device for longer if the body movement is lot. Affordance can make the interaction very easy and relatable for the user and he will feel part of the environment that we are creating for him. And I think feedback and guidance is the non-negotiable principals for any interaction to make users engage for longer time.

Although the technology has come a long way since the prototypes in the '60s, there is still not a wide enough audience to improve these technologies. In terms of accessibility, it is far from being inclusive, since current technologies still cause dizziness to the female audience and it has not been solved. Something more difficult will be to find accessible solutions to the multiple technologies that are used to create these experiences as motion tracking and body tracking, etc. You as a designer must be prepared to be able to provide a new look that brings solutions to existing problems and experiment with new solutions with users in mind.

I've learned a lot by observing people use VR headset and controllers for the first time, same goes for using an AR app. A slew of small (not really small for users) problems arise throughout the process of starting an AR app (or putting VR headset) to using it to exiting the app.

Design should be more useful and intuitive. A design has to empathized with their users, defined their user's needs, ideated solutions, build prototype and then test.
