Alignment with Organizational Goals: Clearly articulate how your IA contributions align with the overall goals of the organization. Collaboration and Teamwork: Highlight your ability to collaborate with diverse teams, emphasizing successful outcomes. Use concrete examples and evidence to strengthen your case for promotion.

Always focus on delivering business value. Remember, the architecture alone is not doing this! The architecture is an enabler that supports activities focused on obtaining positive business outcomes. Portfolios can be a challenge. Docs are rarely written solely by one person. Even if they were, over time they tend to be edited and revised by others. When asked about your portfolio, be prepared to discuss why the content is structured the way it is. What were you basing your decisions on: corporate requirements, style guide, user studies, user feedback? If there is a less than stellar IA, be prepared to discuss why and how you would do better next time.

In my experience, people tend to put off skills improvement when they get overwhelmed with work. Yet one of the more highly rated areas of dissatisfaction in employee surveys is a lack of training/education. It's important to carve out that time to take a course, read a book, conduct a user study, or participate in professional communities. Set aside an hour a week. Or 4 hours in a month. It adds up and will pay dividends. Not only will you increase your skills, but you'll set yourself apart from others who aren't doing this.

By mentoring and guiding young professionals, opportunity for upskilling oneself is high and have an understanding of the market trends. And so a good way to showcase your expertise and skills.

O óbvio só é óbvio quando é dito. Todos nós temos um “job description”, uma expectativa por parte da empresa e uma por nossa parte. Atender ao descritivo é o mínimo a ser feito. Se houver expectativa de promo??o é importante que a meta seja extrapolada! Cada um sabe onde dói o calo. As vezes a única forma de saber qual dor aflige as pessoas é perguntando. Entenda quais aos dores ao seu redor, do seu gestor, dos colegas, e direcione seus esfor?os no sentido de eliminá-las.

Acredito que o feedback deve ser algo constante na nossa vida profissional, só assim saberemos se estamos atingindo as expectativas e no caminho certo. Alinhado ao compartilhamento de conhecimento, dar feedback também é uma forma de fazer isso, assim ajudamos os colegas de trabalho a ajustar a rota e entregar algo de muito mais valor em conjunto.

Esteja sempre aberto a feedbacks, aprenda com eles e saiba que nem tudo você precisa acatar pois existe péssimos feedbacks também que só demonstram parcialmente a realidade. Esteja atento e confiante de quem você é que isso irá refletir com o tempo e com as pessoas certas.

La retroalimentación amplía nuestro aprendizaje. A menudo, existen oportunidades que pasan desapercibidas, detectables fácilmente desde perspectivas externas libres de sesgos. Estos puntos de vista enriquecen los procesos, brindando una pluralidad fundamental. Considero que lo no retroalimentado carece de la riqueza que aporta este proceso. Es vital construir proyectos desde múltiples ópticas, como en la investigación, donde cada detalle se prueba. En cualquier proceso, la retroalimentación enriquece las soluciones. Something I've done that's helpful here - and seen others do better than me! - is to position yourself as a 1-person growth hacking team. In other words: buddy up with product and marketing managers, learn where the friction is in your organisation's website / app, and offer to help by creating a draft alternate IA to then test with a small cohort of customers (or people who aren't already familiar with the website / app). If you can baseline the performance of the existing website, and then show how your IA and flows have improved results, you'll be GOLD to them. I've seen people not only get promoted doing this, but use this mindset to build internal growth hacking teams of up to 7 people.

Depending on the level you’re at and aiming for with a promotion – how you demonstrate value needs to stretch beyond your assigned/expected areas of ownership. This can all start by finding a problem your customers/future customers are facing – that someone in your org isn’t solving or that isn’t being solved well. As mentioned above, you can find others to collaborate with to solve this problem, connecting people who might not have otherwise, and “leading without authority.” Ideally any problems that bring value to customers should be quantifiable and accounted for in your business and success metrics.

Being user centric one of the objectives is to take as wide a view as possible. When we think of users it's not just those currently using it. It's future customers so talking to sales about what they need and why they are struggling is important. How can the product or service be made easier for them. Talking to marketing to understand our position and who our competitors are and where are we and where do we need to be. Why do people leave. Users are past, future and present as well as all the other metrics - expert, novice, sceptics etc... User research is a corner stone.
