It is very important to check your work. I work with large data and I understand that I have to submit complete and accurate work, so I do everything possible to double check my work before submitting. Make sure all data are correctly entered and calculations correct. Most times, I give a colleague to help check (that's if it is something that is shareable).

Even if you are working on a huge data set in excel, it is important to place some form of check or formula to show an error when you have made a mistake. For eg. Once when working in a hurry, a colleague of mine hit Ctrl+D instead of Ctrl+S. This led to the replication of card numbers. Had there not been the conditional formatting to check for duplicates in the Excel sheet it would have been a huge loss for the company. Also, it is best if you can have a second pair of eyes quickly run the numbers before processing it.
