Make sure which type of Risk to Identify ? Is it Internal or External ? If internal SWOT is nice one to go for it .Swot is more flexible and can be applied various of forms of business functions . If external PESTEL is advised. Pestel analysis is more non conforming is used only fully understand the implications of entering new market .

After identifying Risk Type Create a Program Level Risk Management Plan to answers What is this program, and why does it matter? Why is risk management important for the programs success? What will the team do to identify, log, assess, and monitor risks throughout the program? What categories of risk will we manage? What methodology will be used for risk identification and to evaluate risk severity? What is expected of the people who own the risks? How much risk is too much risk? What are the risks, and what are we going to do about them? Not last but list make sure program goals and stakeholders expectations are match so program successful delivered

Risk monitoring and control refers to the process of continuously identifying risks and establishing the best methods of dealing with those risks. So making sure whom assign what and if it delivers is the key ? Communication, collaboration, regular status reports to measure where we are

If I may, two additional perspectives. We find important - all risks should have mitigations and those mitigation plans should have a “date of impact” in project plan / schedule. This keeps time in play during schedule progress and risk reviews - In addition to risk owners we find important to decide early if there needs to be a mitigation owner who may be a different person. That person can focus on mitigation actions and cost

The most effective way to demonstrate your skills is to refer to a specific experience and use the STAR method mentioned above to highlight your story. Often I’ve interviewed PMs and they often undersell the results portion - which is the most important part. Make sure your story ends with, “and as a result, we”… avoided additional expense, realized benefits sooner, saved $XX million dollars, etc. Quantifiable results are essential.

As for me I have always prepared myself and answered for the interviews with STAR method. It really helps and gives the interviewer a clear picture of all the steps that you had taken in your previous project or you are willing to take if any such situation arises. STAR method helps putting your decisions very effectively during an interview and helps them Visualize your challenges and the opportunities that you have created and mitigated during the process.

Real experience is always more effective than hypotheticals. The more you can cite specific accomplishments that you achieved, the stronger you will be as a candidate.
