Shoppers have no option but to act immediately if they do not want to miss out on attractive offers. As an agency leader, I believe it is a really good strategy to get people act on fast and generate sales.

The tactical ideas expressed here so far are good, but to me, this is a dangerous way to look at it. YOUR urgency will not become theirs by the strength of your will. The slightest hint of hype or manufactured pressure will kill interest instantly. Make the urgency organic, or it's a turn-off....at least in my opinion.

By using social platforms segmentation tools to group audiences into different groups, you can then craft personalised messaging for each group. For example, an MMORPG can segment its lapsed audience and advertise them a limited time reward for coming back. There is a fine line to tread here in terms of data privacy. Users should be opt-in to connecting their social media to the game (which can be encouraged through rewards for doing so) and shouldn't be targeted with personalised ads if they haven't.
Make sure your segmentation is relevant. Targeting with social (or display or digital audio or connected TV) is different than traditional targeting. In traditional targeting, the focus was "who are my customers" and then "where can I reach people like that" and you would use things like age and gender and then buy advertising at places that reach that age and gender. With some of the modern segmentation available, you don't need to also limit by some of the traditional factors. For example, if you are targeting people who have young children at home, and you have a data point on that, then you don't need to then throw in an age filter of 25-44 year olds.
One god knows how to be fair. But you have urgency triggers. Making it not cringy and making your call to action not disgusting is a big mastery. They say time-sensitive offers are pretty good, but I never used it.
