How can you create a unique editing style?

Be inspired by artists that you like, because your style will be a combination of techniques that you find interesting. Edit often because your style will change as you learn until you find the one that works best for you.

Try editing styles out. Taste them. Understand them. And then build your own look based on what you like. Remember that the edit starts in camera and that you have to consider the edit when shooting the images already.

In the realm of digital art and photo editing, crafting a unique visual style comes down to mastering key tools: the color wheel, HSL (Hue, Saturation, and Lightness) controls, and curves. The color wheel serves as your fundamental palette, enabling primary, secondary, and tertiary adjustments for everything from white balance to specific hues. HSL controls are your fine-tuning instruments, letting you manipulate individual colors' hue, saturation, and lightness. Lastly, curves give you the ultimate control over brightness, contrast, and color balance, allowing precision adjustments via graph-based points.

Creating a unique editing style is like painting emotions onto photos. Draw inspiration from others' work, but dissect techniques, not mimic. Define your aesthetic through mood boards. Play with colors and composition, embracing your emotional palette. Let light and shadows add depth. Evolve and refine over time. Your style is your authentic voice – a symphony of you.

Try and fail, try and fail again...repeat...repeat... Some people get there really quickly, but often you cannot find your own true style overnight. I must've gone through dozens of ways of editing my photos, often inspired by people whose work I followed online, and at other times inspired from stuff I saw in books. I don't feel like we should ever feel like we're "finished" when it comes to our style. It will always evolve over time. And that's ok.

The color calibration sliders are like my secret sauce. Every photo you see is made up of red, green and blue pixels, and the calibration tool gives you the power to manipulate those pixels. Adjusting the red, green and blue pixels in your photos lets you make technical, creative and stylistic changes to your images. For example, you can use the calibration tool to remove any color cast in a photo without altering the other colors in the photo. I use the calibration tool to fine tune the colors in my photos and give my photos a vibrant and poppy look while still staying true to the natural colors of the scene in the image.

Overall, this is a pretty decent article, explaining the editing side of developing new style. However, photography styles, in my opinion, start even before the picture is taken. I like to get as much right, in camera, and that includes my composition, which is a big part of a photographer style. Editing style goes along with that composition to create your unique look as a photographer.

In my experience the camera is a third eye that sees beyond the lens into the horizon. Just allow creativity flow through the lenses. The composition, the lighting, the color template, all comes together before the first click

Be yourself. Go with your gut. Do what you love and enjoy. Practice, experiment, enjoy and flow! Analyse and ask people you trust for feedback on your work. Seek inspiration and influences but be true to your inner self to truly create.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as such photography in true essence is to capture a perspective. Using any form of equipment to share in a vivid representation your view point of an experience or moment. Punctuating a style falls in place as you begin to refine, and fine tune your masterpiece into the best resemblance possible. That way it’s preserved for others to either understand, or appreciate in any capacity.
