How can you create a successful travel and tourism podcast?

As an independent content creator for almost 20 years, and former host of a podcast series, I recommend getting a realistic grounding on the level of reach you can expect based on your current following. As of September 2023 there are 3.02 million podcasts, with 30 million podcast episodes published in 2022. Unless you already have an audience base that you will be sharing your podcast with, I suggest you develop your unique concept, and identify/secure a partner/sponsor organization whose mission meshes with your message. You get an instant audience and your partner brings added value to their clients/members/constituents. Otherwise, be prepared to spend a lot of time & money on marketing and distribution with no guarantee of an audience.

Through the 11 years working around tourism it is always going to be 3 things I rely on. Simple consistency, fun and close to authentic personal level. No fancy words, not so much of facts when myths are more entertaining and relatable material to most. I have seen so many fall into the garble pit trying to shove in fancy material, small prints and useless information with no real value to the customer or audience. This is a living material that changes as the interests change and it does not really belong in an excel file. Creating a podcast with a "niche" would be to offer information of a real travel experiences faults and foes and how to overcome the obstacles of traveling with treats, tricks and truffles. Traveling is adventure.

Find your strong knowledge on the part and write on that so that people can know the real time information. Very few correct informations are available on Internet

I don't think you need 1 style in this. A variety on the platter should serve everyone. I think it is crucial to be authentic and create memorable interactions on your podcast. I think it would depend on the topic of the podcast that would decide the tone, information, and entertainment of said podcast.

You can also choose from different styles, such as informative, entertaining, inspirational, or educational, depending on your audience, niche, and message. Choosing your format and style will help you create consistent, engaging, and high-quality content.

Consider the audience and what they would like to learn/know. Decide whether this going to be a detailed long format or a short bite-sized information that you want to create Or you want to collaborate with industry experts or other content creators. Or what is that you want to cover in the content. You want to inform your audience on what are must-do's, or the don'ts or help them prepare and plan a trip etc

One thing I learned from my experience is that you can make something amazing or horrible because your way of expressing yourself. So if you want persuade people to listen to you, you should have a plan and get the best way to explain and share it with your audience.

No matter how free-flowing you want to keep the podcast, with or without a guest. You need an outline and a skeleton script to follow. Try the methods of storytelling - 1. start with a good hook to engage people in. 2. Build up on that momentum. 3. Climax 4. Resolution.

Try gathering folktales of the places you visit and scatter the interesting bits in your podcast to captivate readers. Also you can announce some attractive giveaways randomly in your podcasts.

There are so many ways to create / record and edit the audio for your podcasts. Apps like Anchor by Spotify or Apple/Amazon Podcast or an Audio Extract from your zoom session recording 9 if it is an interview format) or good starters. If you want to go advanced level, you may consider investing in tools and technology. Invest in good mic/audio equipments, licensed version of Audio editor, background noise removers, intro and exit music and so on...

CALL TO ACTION: Compile Information together that one cannot find elsewhere. For eg: If the topic of a podcast is travel and tourism in some place. I would like to leave the listeners with compiled links to all the resources such as booking agents, visa agents, what to do and where to book it etc. The stories in the podcast would inspire people to travel. A document with such links would be the next step for people to get their thinking caps on and start acting on it and book their holidays/ adventures
